The spiritual life director fulfills the mission of GCS by working with all stakeholders of the school community to foster a Christ-centered culture throughout the entire campus that is rooted in God’s word and covered in prayer. Collaborating with the Director of Curriculum and Instruction, the Director of Spiritual Life will serve as a shepherd and guiding presence for the school community, providing visionary leadership for all faith-formation initiatives – including chapel, discipleship programs, Biblical integration, service opportunities, and spiritual development across all grade levels. GCS is seeking a spiritual leader to help cultivate a Christ-centered culture, equip faculty and students to grow in their walk with God, and invite families into the transformational work God is doing on campus each day.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide strategic leadership to align the school’s spiritual life with its mission, strategic plan, and Portrait of a Graduate.
  • Model an authentic, vibrant Christian faith through character, communication, and daily presence.
  • Foster a Christ-centered culture marked by humility, service, courage, joy, and spiritual maturity.
  • Serve as a spiritual shepherd to students, faculty, and families.
  • Cultivate rhythms of prayer, worship, reflection, and shared spiritual practices across campus.
  • Collaborate with division leaders, counselors, worship leaders, and the Bible department to strengthen the spiritual climate.
  • Build meaningful, mutually beneficial partnerships with local churches and Christian organizations.
  • Assess the health of the school’s spiritual life using appropriate tools and feedback.
2. Teaching, Curriculum & Faculty Development
  • Teach Bible courses at appropriate division levels with strong pedagogy, theological depth, and student engagement.
  • Design and oversee a vertically aligned, theologically coherent Bible curriculum across all grades.
  • Champion biblical worldview integration across all subject areas and divisions.
  • Model and support discipleship-centered instruction and faith integration.
  • Collaborate with the Director of Curriculum & Instruction to ensure instructional quality and alignment.
  • Plan and lead faculty professional development in spiritual formation and biblical integration.
  • Remain current in best practices related to spiritual development in Christian education.
3. Student Formation, Chapel & Community Engagement
  • Oversee chapel programming and division-level spiritual life initiatives to ensure coherence and depth.
  • Collaborate with division leaders to plan spiritually rich, developmentally appropriate chapel experiences.
  • Mentor students through teaching, advising, and informal discipleship.
  • Develop and support student spiritual leaders.
  • Assist with service-learning, missions, and community outreach opportunities.
  • Plan and support spiritual activities that build community and promote faith formation.
Qualifications
  • A mature and growing Christian faith, evidenced by active membership in church and a life that models Christlike character, humility, and spiritual leadership.
  • Bachelor’s degree in biblical studies, ministry, education, or a related field is required (graduate degree preferred), along with relevant theological training.
  • Demonstrated ability to teach Bible courses with theological depth and instructional excellence.
  • Proven leadership experience in Christian education or ministry, with the capacity to cast vision, align teams, and cultivate a Christ-centered school culture.
  • Deep understanding of biblical worldview integration, discipleship, and student spiritual formation across developmental stages (EE–12 preferred).
  • Exceptional relational and communication skills, with the ability to inspire students, equip faculty, and partner effectively with families.
